CUT THE FAT

One job of the Commissioner's Court is to set the county's budget. Now that the press has reported it, I can tell you that Fort Bend has targeted a 10% cut in its budget on non-salaried items. Salaried items will be frozen at last year's budget levels. In our pre-bugdet talks, my office will meet this projections. And I am going to do my best to see that the rest of the county does the same.

  1. Mr. Morrison, please do your best to see that all members of the court do more than pay lip service to this proposed cuts. According to Ms. Wilson, some aren't taking it very seriously and we can just about guess which ones they are. Remind them that they owe their allegiance to the taxpayers and voters of this county please.

  2. What ever happened to the legislative bill proposed to cap property valuations by a Katy legislature?

  4. "Last Tuesday the Fort Bend County Commissioners Court voted on Judge Hebert’s drafted “non-binding resolution” to the state legislature voicing their opposition to Dora Olivo’s HB 1184, a bill that would allow counties whose populations exceed 190,000 to form civil service commissions.

And they voted 4 to 1 for the resolution.

The one hold out? Richard Morrison. That’s why voters voted for Morrison, and that’s why others of us asked them to. The people needed a voice on the commissioners court, and now we have one.

And we’re waiting patiently for the other Democrat, or shall I say alleged Democrat on the court to come around and vote with the people." Half-empty

Thanks Richard! Keep doing the right thing.

  5. No significant news on the Court since this last posting. Things must be humming along great in Fort Bend.

Would be nice if the majority of the commissioners would stop voting on projects when they are accepting campaign gifts from some of these vendors like Bass (one of the biggest givers and takers).

  8. Thanks for this blog to "keep us informed." No updates since March 6. Why don't you get one of Susan DuQuesnay to write an update for you?

Why do you keep this blog around if you're not going to update it.
