"ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN"

As many of you know I have been voicing my concerns about this year's budget. The official process begins again on January 27. Here is what is happening in Williamson County (a county similar to Fort Bend).

Williamson County appraiser Alvin Lankford told county commissioners Tuesday because of a decline in overall new housing and commercial construction the county could possibly lose 3 percent, or $1 billion, worth of taxable value for the 2010-11 fiscal year budget. “Right now these are approximate numbers and they could change,” Mr. Lankford said. “Anything could happen.”

I'll keep you posted.

  1. Let's hope they reduce government and services, rather than running to the individual homeowners who are already cash strapped for more taxes like this past year with the appraisal jumps. Be our voice Richard and not the voice of the county budget. Work for us as you promised and not a budget defender.

  2. Stop Hebert from feeding our bonds and tax dollars to more county vendors and help delay any further bond elections that will impact the debt service portion of the budget!

  3. We asked for all departments in the County to cut 10% last year. Most complied and the budget only went up by 3%. I will ask the same or more this year to protect the taxpayer.

  4. We have been feeding vendor grizzley bears for too long. Now that we are out of growth and expansion money, they are still hungry for projects. The FBISD Global Science Center is the perfect example!Taxpayers are already being mauled in Fort Bend!! HELP!!!

  6. I have a question. Why don't you all make access to your meeting more friendly to the public by moving them to the evenings when most can come after work and the commute?

  7. Stop the rate-appraisal game. Reduce government spending now!

  8. I think that's a good idea and I'll suggest it. In the mean time come to my "Commissioner on Your Corner" meetings. Find out about them here http://www.co.fort-bend.tx.us/getSitePage.asp?sitePage=27465.
