WELCOME TO MY BLOG

Welcome to my new blog. I'm Commissioner-elect of Precinct 1 in Fort Bend County and will be sworn in January 1, 2009. I will be posting about the "going ons" in Precinct 1, the Commissioner's Court and Fort Bend County as a whole. Of course, I will be constrained by law and sometimes politics to not divulge some of the information that the Court discusses or will discuss. I will, however, try to be as responsive as I can to any comments that you may have.

The Commissioners Court is made up of four county commissioners and a county judge. The court's main duties are approving the county budget, calling for elections, setting the tax rate, and construction and maintenance of county infrastructure. Much of the Court's agenda is mundane issues dealing with the day-to-day operations of the County. It meets the first, second, and fourth Tuesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. on the 7th Floor of the William B. Travis building in Richmond, Texas. You can see the agenda in written form or on video here.

I hope you come back.

  1. Richard,

It's about time we get some transparency here in Fort Bend County. Thank you for taking the time to keep us informed.

  2. So since you started this blog, there's been at least one County Commissioner's meeting and you've been in office for several weeks now and yet you haven't posted on information about your precinct, County Commissioner business or Fort Bend news.

And you haven't responded any any of the questions posed to you in your posting about the state's financial condition.

I am confused about your intent and purpose for this site. Can you clarify?

  4. It is great to see at least one of our commissioners reaching out to his constituents, rather than seeking big gifts from county vendors.
